Finally!!

I am beyond excited that Devin is finally reading because he wants to!! I have struggled with how to get him to this point, and alas, It wasn't anything I did that finally got him here. He has had all the Harry Potter books for awhile, and we have purchased other books he "had" to have, hoping it would get him to read more than the required 20 mintues a day he has to read for school. I have always loved to read and couldn't understand why he didn't. He is a good reader, but he just hasn't had the desire to pick up a book for fun. I think it is a new friend he has at school that has him into Harry Potter. Devin has seen the movies, and loves them. He even started to read one of the books a few months ago, but it just didn't stick. Two days ago he started reading the first book, and he is on chapter five!!!. I am beyond thrilled. Mark and I ask him questions to make sure he is understanding what he reads, and there are some things that are just over a 2nd grader's head in those books...but for the most part, he is doing great. I think it is a good thing that we haven't forced him to read, although I have wanted to. I was a stubborn child, too and I know having your parents force you to do something is not going to make you love it. You have to find that on your own. Anyway, here's to Harry!
