Happy "Memoreo" Day

When my youngest sister was little she thought Memorial Day was "Memoreo" Day, and that we were supposed to have Oreos. So, ever since then Oreos have always been part of our Memorial Day! Today we enjoyed our Oreos at Antelope Island with Grandma Keime. We left about 9:30am, hiked up to Buffalo Point, got eaten by a few thousand gnats and saw a beautiful view, hiked back down, drove out to the ranch on the South end of the island and did all kinds of fun stuff. The boys got to make candles, play in the "jungle", try their hand at roping steers, and ate lunchables-thanks Grandma! It was a fun day! Perfect weather, and perfect company! It really made me appreciate the beautiful area we live in, and the free country we enjoy, thanks to many valiant men and women who have fought, and still fight, for our freedom. Happy Memorial Day!!!

Don't know where the idea came from---grampa thinks Karla, but he LOVES memoreo day. We worked at the hospital so took 5 different kinds of oreos for the volunteers to have. He always has oreos around for this day---I think it's his favorite holiday

Fun Pics! That is a great idea! We have yet to take our kids there. I have been to that Ranch once, but didn't know they did all of that. My kids would love it....we'll have to try! Looks like a great time! Nice job hiking while expecting!! :)

We went on a hike too! No oreos for us though because I would have ended up eating the whole thing. You guys look good!

When I was out on a walk with my family on Memorial day I had a passing thought about oreos and the Keimes. It was funny to then read your blog about it. Some things never change.
